Caylee

I can remember perfectly the day Caylee was born. It feels like it was just a few months ago. In reality it has been ten years. Caylee turned ten the week before this session. I held her when she was just a few minutes old. She literally started crawling for the first time at my house and on my bed. I remember getting so excited when she first walked to me and even when asking her how her first day of kindergarten went. Now she is growing up faster than ever. If it were possible to stop time I would!  There are moments when Caylee looks so much older than ten (I’m not a fan of those moments and I know her mom and dad are not either! Ha). Then there are moments when through the camera lens she looks like “little Caylee” again. She would make a funny face, raise her eyebrows, or giggle in a way that took me back to when she was just a little girl. Those moments happened several times during this session. My sister Sabrina (Caylee’s mom) enjoyed the cutesy photos, as Caylee enjoyed more of the photos in which she looked a little older! Ha!
When your Aunt is a photographer you get pretty good with photo sessions, outfit changes, and the ability to follow professional direction! Caylee did amazingly well the evening of her session. Together, the three of us made quite the team! We had a little over an hour of sunlight left. In that time we were able to fit in five clothing changes, accessory changes, and walked to different areas within the park. We made very good use of our time that was for sure. Caylee is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Little aspects of her personality show in each and every image. I love that so much. I’ve really enjoyed this session, because before we know it her Senior Session will be my next post.  Here are just a few of my favorites from her session. Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Rosie | One Year

I think it is safe to say that you cannot talk to Miss Rosie without having a smile on your face the entire time. She is THAT adorable. Everything about Rosie is just so sweet. From her BEAUTIFUL blue eyes to her big grinning, smile she is absolutely precious. It was a perfect spring evening when I met up with her parents for her One Year Session. Immediately, it felt like I had known her mother Sarah for years. It was so much fun walking around the park, laughing with Rosie, and just enjoying the evening with a great family. I love every single image from her session, but especially the ones of Rosie with her mom and dad. Those images tell so much, and I LOVE that. You can just feel how much they adore her through those images. It’s those moments I capture that make me feel so happy and blessed to be doing what I love! Below are just a few of my favorites from our time together. I know you will enjoy them as much as I do. Happy Wednesday!

Jessica | Senior 2014

Just minutes after finishing Jessica’s senior photo session, I began to get excited about putting this post together. Jessica was so easy going and fun to work with. She was up for whatever I asked her to do and I LOVED that!  Whether that be to kick her shoes off and sit on the edge of a fountain (splashed with water the entire time), climb up to the top of a hill (in five inch wedges) to sit on top of some beautiful rocks, or even lay on the concrete in the middle of the square downtown (I will say that image is hands down one of my favorites). She is absolutely beautiful and I loved the candid shots that I was able to get. I’m always talking to my clients as I photograph them. Giving them tips on what to do or where to look. I could always tell when she would look at her mom, Leslie. She would smile in the biggest way and giggle. Those moments also produced some of my favorite images. I had the best time walking around downtown Springfield, stopping at unique spots in the area, and just talking. We talked about her upcoming prom night and how exciting it is that graduation is just around the corner. It is so nice to meet a young one that has such a good head on her shoulders.  I know that Jessica will have amazing things happening in her future.  Jessica, I hope you enjoy the last few weeks of your senior year and every minute of your graduation day. Congratulations, I wish you the very best as you embark upon this next chapter in your life!

Judson | Newborn

I received an email at the beginning of the year, from Lindsay, stating that she and her husband Justin were expecting their first child at the end of March.  That is when we started to plan their maternity and newborn sessions.  I wanted to make sure to incorporate personalized items in each session. We had the maternity session schedule out and we were ready to go, but … Mother Nature had another plan.  Just like most of the country, we had a very cold and uncomfortable winter here in Missouri. Doing a maternity session when it is 12 degrees outside wasn’t exactly the ideal setting. As we continued to reschedule a few of the dates that we had originally chose, I received a message from Lindsay that said “Well, I wanted to schedule our maternity session for this weekend…however, I may have my son by this weekend”. She called it. It was just a few days after her and I talked, baby Judson was born! This little guy was two and a half weeks early. I think he was really excited to meet his amazing parents so he was ready to come a little early!  Ha

Baby Judson was PERFECT and I mean PERFECT during his session. We moved him around their house, both inside and out, placed him on blankets, in baskets, and even a baseball glove and he slept THE ENTIRE TIME. What a doll! He is so sweet and so tiny. One item that Lindsay and Justin wanted to incorporate in Judson’s newborn session was the outfit that Justin wore when he came home from the hospital. I loved that idea as soon as they said it. It’s those personal touches that make a newborn session even more special. I was able to get a few shots of Justin and Judson together while he was wearing that outfit. It was such a special moment and I’m so honored to have been a part of it. We also were able to incorporate some of Lindsay’s grandfather’s things. His cowboy hat, boots, and an antique milk crate. It all came together perfectly and made for some beautiful images.  I’m so excited to say that we will be seeing a lot more of Judson over the next year and we will be able to watch him grow. I am thrilled about that! I enjoyed my time with Judson, Lindsay and Justin so much. Here are just a few of my favorite images from his session. Happy Friday!
